Arromanches is a lovely little place, and is famous because of the D-Day landings on the Normandy beaches.....Sword, Gold, Juno, Utah, and Omaha....
on June 6th 1944.
Remains of the Mulberry harbours can be seen on the beaches and in the sea.
These harbours, made of concrete and steel at secret locations in Britain, were towed across the English Channel to make a breakwater to allow a system of floating quays and pontoons for offloading equipment.
The town itself has many shops and cafes, a gallery and museum, and of course a land train.
At lunchtime there, I had a delicious chocolate and banana crepe.
